poking around on spotify earlier and saw that ghost hit 1 mil monthly listeners,,, holy shit!! and their work has been a constant in my life for about 7 years now holy fuck.
gets me thinking about their impact and stuff. still have mixed emotions about everything because they sure did get good and bad attention while they were online. it's gotta be satisfying to see so many people enjoy your art and music and for them to even pay for it. then there's all the problems that come with any fanbase or online presence in general. and I've been here a while so here's just a few things that stand out to me about. everything? things I've thought about a bit?
(this became a long reflection ramble thing whoops.)
I've never really had other songs or writing at all describe the weird mental shit I've been through. yep, it's probably dumb, but ghost and pals songs helped me identity my problems. they became a source of catharsis when I was in fucking middle school and still are to this day. hell, evolve was the first thing that got me thinking I had been in a horrible relationship (along with twisted love ofc). aoapp was a reflection of my anxious attachment for a long time. I wouldn't have been able to make personal progress the past few years without analyzing songs too much.
and don't get me started on their drawings,, their artstyle has always been so charming in its own way. for a long time I tried to emulate their techniques so I could be an artist too. AND THEIR PV EDITING?? mgnghfh full course meal. I still set stills as backgrounds every so often. the fucking colorbars picture was my email background for years until google decided to stop loading it sometime last year.
I still admire them so much.
but there's also things they did that feel off. like I'll never get over how the new chattering was supposed to be a joke. you can't go and make a polished banger showing off your improvement and then say "yeah lol I only did this cause my friend joked about doing it so I said bet." or smth along those lines. (ghost said they remade it cause creep-p joked about it. in a tweet I think? gotta find it.) at that point, it also becomes a slight against your fans. you can't act like everything you make is (essentially) worthless without unintentionally shaming those who enjoy it. it's like that one mirror reflection picture thing.
the whole deletion of specific songs/most of their old discography is also it's own complex beast. ideally, an artist should be in control of when their art is displayed, but you give up that agency when using the internet. hell, there's mirrors of my old Instagram pages, and I'm nowhere near ghost's notoriety. thats the nature of the internet. shit is saved and copied and reuploaded all the time. the only way you can prevent that is by not uploading it at all or going through copyright law/terms of use/etc.
when I first started listening to ghost, they had their old work in an unlisted playlist. cool. then another channel I believe? then later on there was no official way of getting them so ofc people reuploaded them. was that the best thing to do? nope. but people enjoy their old songs and wanted access to them. and not everyone has a local back-up of music cause they're afraid it'll become inaccessible lost media.
them deleting most of their music vids is similar. this happened around like 2018ish? people started reuploading their current songs because. guess what. they weren't officially avaliable. people were thanking translators and such who had the pvs on their channel because they had access to it again. I believe something like this happened a second time but I don't remember for sure.
THIS DOESN'T EXCUSE ANY OF THE PATREON LEAKS BTW. those were paywalled benefits so that's a fundamental breach of privacy (and site rules, I'm p sure).
also less serious thing but they set up a premiere at the end of 2019 for a new song or whatever and it turned out to be a fucking joke too. just like a dr phil picture or smth. only upset at that cause back then I'd get the biggest fucking adrenaline rush whenever they were about to release something. then again I was also depressed as hell so that's an old me problem imo.
there's probably other drama or whatever I'm completely forgetting about, but probably for the better. in the end it's all about the art we're here for in the first place, and the artist behind it. I hope they're doing well after detaching from social media.
uh. long essay thing over now. I think

Google lets you generate vapid podcasts about documents that you upload and my impulse to try a new toy is once again overcoming my hatred for generative AI. In my defense, I was also happily generating images back in 2015 when it was a harmless way to have fun with a computer and not an organized assault on artists everywhere... to me it's a toy. But this botcast (that term is copyrighted by me, Google, don't even think about stealing it) can definitely be used for evil just like other forms of gen AI. Coming up with coherent original lines of argument is something AI is hopeless at, being that it can't reason. I don't know if that's even something that can be fixed. But someone will definitely steal someone else's written analysis of a popular work, generate a podcast and put it on streaming services to cash in. This kind of plagiarism isn't strictly speaking new, but AI makes it much easier. The bots don't come up with anything on their own, but if you haven't read the source document it can seem as if they do because they pretend to come up with the stuff in the text themselves.
Anyway, the tab crashes every time I try to force the bots to have a fake deep conversation about the ancient coldmirror fic "Toilet of Horrors" (in German), something that I can only describe as Bot Seppuku. It also crashes when I try the Unabomber Manifesto. Maybe the texts are both too long - it definitely happens because it overloads my RAM. But I do have some breathless dialogues about the content of my Beloved Antichrist sideblog that are really funny, even though the bots mess up the plot, pretend my cool analysis is their amazing insight (as I said above - it sounds impressive when you listen to it on its own, but they don't come up with anything I didn't write first), and apart from that just make lame jokes and the most surface-level observations imaginable. They also say "Talk about a power play!" 10 times a minute. And they pretend they listened to the whole thing too by saying things about the music that are statistically likely to be true (but often aren't).
The lame jokes are so funny though. Sophia appears during the (literally) Biblical civil war to defeat Apollonius' evil magic and avenge her daughter and the guy-bot himbo chortles: "You don't expect a MOM to GATECRASH the APOCALYPSE! HAHA!" Seriously, it's priceless. The most American take possible. I was laughing at how mundane their comments are.
"This opera really makes you wonder about how many times you have ignored signs that someone was the Antichrist, am I right?" Yeah totally bro, that was my take-away too!
I think this site might be a demonic scheme to get people to upload their original writing so Google has more human-written stuff to train its bots on. It won't help. But I want to upload my diary from when I was 16 so, so bad. Having robot podcasters comment on my teenage angst as if it's literature, god.
..I won't do it. But only because I wouldn't give Google my fucking diary and I do have some self-restraint. Also I don't want to give it anything that isn't already freely available online anyway because I don't want to contribute to what Google is doing. I wish I could run this whole thing locally though because god it's hilarious.

Have you seen that “SM Congress 2021” on youtube? It was uploaded today. That LSM dude didn’t even mention EXO at all. It’s a 1 hour video tho🤡 The audacity that old man hv when exo are the one who build roof under his head. At this rate, I’m 100% convinced exo won’t renew their contract under SM nxt year🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Yeah they won't. I watched the SMCU, Imagine Exo's MOST recent album DFTF is not on the shelves with the rest of all 2021 year albums !
And not concluding Exo in the targeted bands to be promoted overseas. That tells a lot. Also it's been almost 4years since October 2017 when Exo's contract discussions took place and Exo left SM angrily and since then rumors of them not renewing their contract started circulating, and we knew why in late 2017 and the rest of the upcoming years when Exo suffered from mistreatment and fucked up promotions and we're sabotaged in music awards shows and in their company. Remember 2018 was the year exo started their low-key hiatus and since then we rarely saw them together unless during album preparation.
SM only wanted to renew the contract with Baekhyun and Kai and Chanyeol and Ksoo, not the rest of the members, coz baek sold millions, Chanyeol has copyrights and is a composer and a lyricist and is working with new artists and Entertainments, Ksoo has both idol and actor Industries in his hands, Ji is a variety shows Monster now and a big ambassador of Gucci and many other brands. No wonder SM only asked them and bribed them with promotions and many other stuff to get them to sign the contract renewal.
But they refused! Saying it's either all of them stay or all of them leave. And that's why I think they're being sabotaged by SM now. 💁🏻♀️
Remember two weeks ago when Ji posted in his bubble 💭 : "If I leave SM would you support me/take care of me?".
That tells everything!

I just watched your magical girl transformation video (absolutely love it btw) and, if I may ask, what did you have to say about Mami's transformation from Madoka Magica? I understand why it had to be edited out, but I adore your analysis in your videos.
Ah thank you so much for watching!! XD yeah I was really angry about that. Originally the transformation sequences was just picked up by a copyright bot, but since it's part of a larger review (AND FAIR USE) I contested it which means a human being has to look at the footage. And SOMEONE from Sony Japan just decided to say "no fuck you" and gave my ENTIRE CHANNEL a copyright strike.... because of a MINUTE of footage in an HOUR review.
(this was power flexing, make no fucking mistake. The dude probably saw my channel was small and decided to intimidate me.)
ANYWAY, this was 4 months ago (I was waiting for the strike to expire before uploading the video again lol) so I haven't watched it in a while.
My general opinions of Mami's transformation was that it really is an EXCELLENT sequence and borderline perfect. From her music being called "Believe in Justice" to how her outfit matches her themes like showing the corset "binding" her to the rather morbid detail of the ribbon tying itself around her neck.
I honestly had nothing but positive things to say about the sequence and I think it's one of the best transformation sequences that's not only great to look at, but perfectly showcases Mami's personality, how she feels about being a magical girl, as well as technical details like the name of the song. And I also mentioned how every Magical Girl's transformation in PPMM have unqiue music which matches them, (like Sayaka's transformation music being a violin, for instance).
I also mentioned how Mami's transformation music is sung in a made up language that's a mix of Japanese and Latin, however in one of the movies they gave her music Japanese lyrics.
I also mentioned how this uniqueness in each transformation in PPMM was lost in later films as they gave them all a more generic transformation sequence all with matching music and elements which is a shame.

Killstream w/ Onision 3/30/2020 - Summary Part 3
Re-Upload
Sorry this is taking me so long to get through. It’s almost 4 hours long.
(Unless specifically stated, everything written is from Greg / James’ words. Parenthesis are my notes/thoughts.):
Greg / James says he knew Hansen wasn’t going to do the interview because he has too much dirt on Hansen and he knew Greg was going to bring it up. His debts, his mistress, having someone kill themselves on his show, the way he showed up to Greg’s house when Greg has chronic depression just like the person that killed themselves- risking Greg’s life.
Greg goes through what happened with the Hansen interview: First Greg asked for a charity interview to be streamed on twitter in December, Hansen wanted it on his own channel, Greg now offered another interview and Hansen said no because he thought it would be on Only Fans, Greg said he wanted it on his twitter, Hansen wanted it on his channel, Greg said to demonetize it, Chris Hasnen tweeted he won’t do any conditions, then an hour later Hansen tweeted it will be demonetized, then Greg was like “fuck yeah I was able to control Chris Hansen”, Mike writes Greg and says it’s going to be pre-recorded, Greg says no, then Greg says you can pre-record it but he’ll livestream it on his channel, they were silent for a while, then Hansen said he wouldn’t do it because he did’t want to hurt the victim’s feelings. Keem guesses his attorney told him not to do it live to keep Greg from bringing up the dirt he has on Hansen.
Host reads from someone telling him to ask Greg why he asked underage fans to send pics in their underwear. Greg says you need proof. He says that doesn’t make sense because his forums were 18+ and appropriate images only and that doesn’t sound like an appropriate image. He wouldn’t ask minors for that. He denies it and says it doesn’t sound like him. (He did not start using an 18+ only rule on his forums until 2017. The Onision XYZ forums ran from October 2016 to May 2017. It had many underage fans submitting photos of themselves for Greg to use in his videos, some in their underwear. This forum had NO age restriction. This video contains clips of Greg saying there is no age restriction on the site and DEFENDING his right to rate the bodies of underage girls in their underwear.)
He says people will show other people asking for stuff on the forums and act like he’s asking for it. (This is true, people do do this. I am not a fan of using other people’s posts from the site against him. There is already a ton of video evidence out there of Greg rating underage fans’ bodies with pics submitted to the XYZ forums.)
Greg says you can use the Wayback Machine to verify it says 18+ only on various forums. (Yes, but only after XYZ was shut down in 2017.)
Host reads a tweet from Repzion asking about Greg’s statement on if you don’t report sexual abuse instantly, you are as bad as a rapist. Greg says he doesn’t remember this tweet. He says he tweets a lot of hilarious things. Greg says he doesn’t agree with it. (The tweets are here. They were from 2016 and 2018.) He says we all tweet stupid shit, but he doesn’t remember that. (He is pretending he doesn’t remember this, but he made an apology video about the tweets three months ago in January. The video is still up on Speaks.)
They all bring up the DMCA abuse. Keem seems particularly angry about that. Greg says if you talk to the right people at Youtube, you get access to cms.youtube.com, which flags your content for you when others use it in their video. When something comes up, Greg always tells it they can’t monetize his content. If they appeal it, he loses his power. Host asks then why does he do it. Greg says the system shows him content and he confirms if it’s his content or not. If he confirms it, the system will claim the video. If they fight it and Greg knows they are not using it in a way that isn’t fair, he gives them 7 days. They can get a copyright strike or talk to Youtube directly to have Youtube review it. Youtube almost always says they don’t know so the give it to the person who’s appealing it. Greg says if Youtube took it down, typically they reviewed it and saw it was stealing. Someone asks if Greg is denying he uses the copyright system to squash criticism of himself. Greg says no, that was never the point. He says he claimed someone the other day that was supporting him because he realized he can’t just claim people that don’t support him. Keem thinks this is hilarious. Greg says if he didn’t do it, he would be using it as a weapon. He says he’s glad he made that decision the other day so he could say that.
Keem asks about GamerFromMars’ theory that Greg found a way to survive on Youtube by becoming the most hated person, making sure people make videos on him that gets millions of views, then claim the videos to collect the revenue. (This is a really good question. I’m glad he brought this up.) Keem guesses Greg is still bringing in $20k - 30k a month off the flagged videos. Greg says someone freaked out about losing $30 on a video about him that he claimed. Someone says that’s a big deal to some people. Greg says he thinks he made $1,000 off of claimed videos last month. Keem says he means during the prime, when everyone was making Onision videos. Greg says people reuploading the fake meltdown videos was some of the best earnings he’s made because people would reupload it and only change the sound so it was a slam dunk copyright case. He guesses he made $4,000 from copyright claims during that. They sound disappointed with the number. (Idk, to me getting $1,000 - $4,000 a month seems like a lot of really good side money to me.)
Greg explains the Madame situation. He says if she did bring it to court, all he would have to do is show he only made $100 and she used his copyright music. Says you can’t use copyright music, it’s common sense. Says this is an example of someone making a big deal out of copyright when it’s a slam dunk for him. He says it’s not worth bringing to court. Greg says $30,000 would be nice, but that would be worth bringing him to court over.
The host says he’s going to ask about the window incident. Greg says it’s about a little girl, so it should be off limits. He says you don’t talk about Keemstar’s girl. Greg says CPS and detectives investigated it and concluded it was an accident. He doesn’t understand why people question professionals. Keem says he’s seen people say they need their kids taken away because they weren’t watching her. Greg says then you’re calling the detectives stupid. Keem says kids get hurt and do stupid things. Greg says the level of injury was horrifying and they both didn’t know what to do.
Greg says CPS was called when Sarah was there because Sarah or somebody was being horrible. When they showed up, the lady checked that window to make sure it was working. He says after the incident, they couldn’t stop thinking about her checking the window and asking why she did that. They tried to position the room so no one could get to the window, but the kid stood on the back of the bed, put their pressure on the window screen, and the screen popped off. They now have locks on every window.
Greg says he was directly underneath when it happened. He was in the garage and he for some reason wasn’t wearing his headphones like he usually does. Kai was upstairs making dinner. He hears a deep voice, like his son’s. He thought he heard a toy car on the garage door. He was wondering what they were doing outside at 7:00 at night and it was getting dark. He walks upstairs and sees his son playing video games. He thought “what the fuck” because he heard that deep voice mumbling outside. Host asks what it sounded like. Greg says like indistinguishable “uhh uhh”, like humming or groaning. He says the Ring camera caught his reaction, which was horrible to watch. He had to show the detective. His brain couldn’t comprehend what he saw on the ground. It didn’t look like an animal, but it was covered in debris from the driveway and from the grass surrounding it. After a few seconds it clicks and he screams “call an ambulance.” He says he was panicking (he sounds like he’s about to cry for a second) he apologies. He said his kid was looking up to the left, frozen in place. He says the weird thing is the kid wasn’t near the garage door. They were a foot or two away. He says he still doesn’t know what it was that tipped him off.
He says it’s been pretty much a full recovery, but there’s still a little limp. He says they said everything should heal well and by the time they’re an adult you won’t even see that anything ever happened on the scull. He says a 7 year old fell off a golf cart around the same time and is now a full cripple. He says Kai was following that story online. He says the brain was swollen, but the scull didn’t crack so the brain had no room to expand. In his situation, the scull cracked so it gave the brain room to swell and the brain didn’t kill itself.

Mac Miller’s new music and his truthfully inspiring interview with Zane Crowe.
Mac Miller’s new music and his truthful and inspiring interview with Zane Crowe.
Mac Miller’s new music in 2020!
On Mac Miller’s new music “Good News.”
“The life you live is more important than the words you speak.” – Mac Miller
If you know me then it’s no secret Mac Miller influenced my life deeply.
Mac Miller was not only a genuine and loving person but he saved lives every day, and he still does save people through his art.
How many times do you think people ask “Why does everyone talk about Mac Miller, what’s so special about him?”
Truth be it, once is too many.
Fortunately, those who listened to his music really knew Mac more than those in-person.
And that’s the fucked up thing about depression.
Reddit community carries on Mac Miller’s legacy.
Constantly, you find yourself attempting to beat the odds, and it can truly be a battle, one we visit multiple times a day.
Regardless, whatever it is in the realities of life, Miller was there to say “hey, I feel these things too, listen!”
Unfortunately, that didn’t make him a perfect person, he fought an enemy from within, and as an artist, you spend a lot of time alone, or not going out to just chill at Blue Side Park with your friends and rap for a smaller scale fan base.
On life, social media, and life
“You have to understand, you wake up, you reach for your phone and me, I can find any story I want about myself. I used to look at my phone, scroll Twitter or Instagram, and get my ego stroked and destroyed in 5-minutes every morning.” He shared honestly. “You are the greatest thing ever, you suck, every day. That’s how I started my day, and also that being weight in my headspace.”
“But with everything that happened and it was just too much. I’m looking on the internet. I already have my own feelings emotions and thoughts, so why the fuck would I have any room for them, so I completely cut it off.”
And the best response to his question with Zane Lowe was “What did you replace it with?” And he didn’t wait for a second “Space!”
“You gotta understand, I’ve lived a certain life for 10-years and faced almost no real consequence, at all. I had no version of the story that didn’t end with me being fine. Yeah, I made a stupid mistake, I’m a human being, drove home drunk. Best thing that could have happened to me, I needed to run into the light pole and have all those things stop.
You get the nerve and itch to tell people don’t worry I’m okay, don’t worry, I’m fine.”
People that care about me and fans that love my music, it’s a beautiful, beautiful relationship with them. Of people who have been with me through being a 19-year-old wide-eyed kid to being a self-destructive depressed drug user to you know, making love music to all these different stages, then they see that and they worry. And your first reaction is let me tell them I’m cool.”
Zane Crowe shared his thoughts openly.
“Yeah, your first reaction is to think about the well-being of others. Which is kind of crazy when you should be actually concentrating on yourself to some degree, but I understand.”
Honestly, that’s true and I feel as though Mac Miller put forth so much love and emotion toward others that he forgot about himself, relatable?
“You’re an honest man, and that’s why I said at the beg you’ve been honest as long as I’ve known you.”
Trust in who you are as much as Mac did he spent many moments of his life creating to make us cheese.
Keeping Mac Miller’s legacy alive.
Starting the decade without Mac Miller in the studio sucks but we are still helping him live through loving his art, remembering and thanking him for all he’s done for his family, friends, and fans.
It’s not the number of likes, it’s not how many people bought the album. It’s about the hearts you touch in non-materialistic ways and Mac Miller was most dope about doing both.
The good news is, Mac left behind so much music from the time he spent in his “Space,” we’re hoping new music keeps coming, even at a slow pace because that’s truly the fucking best.
Blessed be.

Trivia: Holiday Dance
J-Hope x Black!Youtuber
You came to Korea with high hopes that had been met. They are now surpassed as you get the chance to make a youtube video with several BTS members. The recording goes much better than expected, just in time for Christmas.
I walked around the town taking my time as I were getting the last needed things to stay inside for Christmas. My family wasn’t in Korea, but I was. I had moved there...here because of my chance at getting famous. It’s true I had many talents and I wasn’t spectacularly gorgeous, but it was Korea. I had been hoping to take the Sam Okyere route and be famous for being black. And before you say some dumb shit about using my race as an advantage, chill. There aren’t many places where my dark skin is a good thing. We’re usually crooks and rapists and filling up jail cells on dumbass charges, but here.
Here in Korea I was praised for being myself. My self confidence has blossomed and I’m less depressed. Yeah, there are times when I’m told to go back to where I came from or something like that but more people tell that person to shut up no matter if they’re older or not. I feel respected here which is why I’ve stayed in Korea for three years now.
And have I gotten famous? Yes. I’ve gotten famous for my unique style which is apparently still unique in Korea. I run a YouTube channel but I have also become a TV personality and equality advocate. It’s really fun. I get to meet a lot of celebs and get to travel a lot.
“Hey, (Y/N)!” Someone called. They approached me wearing a green padded jacket and western styled makeup on. Their body looked like a caterpillar and the face a butterfly.
I stopped, “Yes. Hello?”
We bowed to each other.
“I’m Kim Gertrude. I work for some very important people. Here’s my card.”
She handed the card to me and I saw she was one of BTS’s managers. Married by the looks of it. I had met several before, but schedules man. You think idols are busy? I just got my own editor for my videos and I still had a lot of legwork to do.
“Hi, Gertrude. Nice to meet you.”
She smiled, “I know we’ve tried to set up something before, but a lot of staff has been fired in the recent...event. I just wanted to make sure we still had some connection with you and heard you were headed to Megan’s place today.”
I nodded, “Oh, I am. We’re shooting a video today. That’s very kind of you to go out of your way to confirm that. Uh, quick question. I have a mostly clear schedule for the next two weeks since I’m doing things in advanced and this is the last video I’m shooting for my channel event. Anyways, um, is there a chance I could have one day with at least one of the guys anywhere in that time?”
Gertrude tapped her lip, “Maybe. I’ll have to double check and let you know. I left my work phone somewhere. I promise to let you know as soon as possible. I have to get going now. Thank you for your time.”
“You’re welcome. Thank you for the card and I hope to hear you from you soon.”
After bowing to each other, she went to a car that was waiting and I continued to my friend Megan’s place. We were recording for my 25 days of videos. It was two months until December and the holiday season, so I had a lot of events to go to. I’d do vlogs too, but for YouTube content I’d be doing as many collabs as possible.
“(Y/N)!” Megan said with a big smile when I got to her door. Her cats meowed all around as we hugged each other.
I made sure to give them pets and scratches too.
[Thirty minutes later]
The first video for her channel was recorded, and I legit smelled like cat food. Feathers were everywhere. We tested to see what the cats would do with certain toys, which they liked the best, which they didn’t really like. They destroyed three feathered ones, so it was time for clean up and a quick break before we started recording mine.
With the feathers in the trash, I decided to check my phone while she ordered take out. I had sent Gertrude a confirmation text and she said she was glad to know I was actually interested and that she had heard good things from the former employees and really liked me work, all that jazz.
Then this exchange happened once I checked my phone. I nearly screamed.
I lied. I had no ideas that hadn’t already been used up for the 25 days thing. My face must’ve looked very stressed because Megan gave me a confused look.
“You good?”
“If I show you this, you can’t tell anyone until it’s over.”
She nodded, “I swear on my life, girl.”
I showed her the text messages and her eyes lit up. She grabbed my phone to scream and then looked at me. Looking at the phone, she screamed again.
“NOoooo”
“Yesss!”
“Girl, I’ve been doing this for 10 years and I couldn’t even get ten seconds with…” She handed my phone back, “What’s the idea?”
“I don’t have one! I came up with so many ideas for my channel for the 25 days things and the only things I didn’t do was because they are impossible or they suck ass!”
Megan shook her head and held out her hand, “List.”
I scrolled on my phone to show her the list. She looked through it and we stood in awkward but excited silence for a good few seconds as she saw what wasn’t crossed out.
“Potato sack race? In the winter?”
“Anyways!” I waved my hand.
Then she held out her phone while her fluffiest cat jumped onto the counter and into my arms, “What about this one? Random dance play? They’re dancers, or even guess the song! You both love music!”
“But the copyrights! I’m broke, sis!” I whined.
“Make it BTS. They can’t strike you if they’re listening to their own music.”
I wanted to facepalm so hard, “You’re right! OMG thank you so much!”
The doorbell buzzed. Probably food. I started texting back.
The food was set up in the living room when I returned. Megan asked how it went, and I told her I was just waiting to see if any of the guys wanted to do it. She said she was so glad for me but I owed her a name drop for helping. Of course! I’d make sure it was kept in the video intro. She laughed and we recorded my video which just us doing each other’s makeup with children’s makeup kits that one would get from like the toy section.
It was just a fun thing, but I had to remember to wash it off because it was also done blindfolded and we looked like wrecks with a capital R.
When next week arrived, I had become that girl who was trying to impress guys but “not too much” Not like I bought a whole new outfit to wear or started preparing my hair ahead of time or anything. I didn’t make a video vlog of my shopping or upload my selfie to my insta account. Nothing...like...that.
Ok, fine. Maybe I did, but don’t I look damn fine?
The plan was to do one all BTS dances and then one full of iconic hits. Mostly TWICE, Hyuna, and Super Junior from the sounds of it. I told Gertrude the guys could just show up in whatever they usually do their dance practices in, something comfortable.
I was wearing leggings, a tank top, and a sheer mesh dress with some white tennis shoes. Clean, but not like I was trying too hard. I just did some lip tint and foundation for a confidence booster and cameras. Waterproof or not, nothing was going on my eyes. I even put on extra strength deodorant cuz I’d be stanky and I didn’t wanna be stanky around BTS. My hair was in two cute buns. Basically a stylish workout.
Taking a deep breath, I went inside and Gertrude greeted me. She said the boys were wrapping up a project and were running a bit late. I was escorted to the practice room while given some rules of what could and could not go into the videos final cut, if it should happen. I told them I followed most of the KBS TV show guidelines when interacting with idols.
“Trust me. Me and my editor take our utmost care to show honest celebrities without tarnishing their records.”
Then they left me in the room to set up with a bodyguard who also had some tech knowledge in case I needed help. I set up my own camera and tripod and tested the speakers. I made sure my earrings were still in and that I wasn’t sweating too much. Then I turned on my phone camera.
“Hey, guys. It’s ya girl PeachesNoCream hear recording yet another video for you. I am not sure when this is going up, I’m thinking sometime during Kwanzaa since you guys need to catch up on my 25 Collabs of Christmas. If you haven’t go see those now.” I smiled and giggled, getting into YouTuber mode.
I messed with a puff making sure it stayed lively, “Anywhoosies, if you’ll notice, I am not in any of my usual spots today. You’ll see, I’ve been blessed by the k-pop gods themselves to do a video with some idols from my favorite group. They’re running a bit late, but it just give me more time to set up...and work on my intro several times until they show up.”
Which I did until the fifth take wasn’t too fake, wasn’t too squeaky or could be perceived as fake. Then I answered some emails while pacing around talking to my editor and confirming or rejecting certain events. I was going to be called in last minute to do this Winterview, I just knew it. Just as I was checking my teeth in the front facing camera, they walked in.
Three of the seven gods belonging to BTS. Damn, how were they all so attractive? I forgot how to breath for a solid five seconds before bowing and greeting them, shaking their hands and such.
“Wow, you guys were so late, I started to wonder if I had been pranked.” Why the fuck did I say that?
They chuckled, “Sorry, Hobi took forever deciding which shorts to wear.”
“I watch your videos sometimes and saw that you made a video about your favorite body parts on idols. Number 1 was my legs and my abs, but you gotta earn those.” He laughed.
I smiled back, “Wow thanks. So you know what we’re gonna do today, right?”
“We gonna dance!” Jimin exclaimed!
“Yep. The first one is all your songs and then the second is just from all over kpop. Do you guys wanna do an intro with me?”
The three boys nodded, and so I came up with an idea on the spot. They in on the other side of my camera and I introduced myself with the basic script I had liked the most from earlier.
“...I’ve been blessed by the k-pop gods themselves. Would you like to meet them?” I turned my body to stand in front of them and they waved and smiled. “It’s BTS!”
Hoseok was laughing, “K-pop gods.”
I smiled at him, making eye contact and then cut off the camera. “That was good, guys. Now, part two of the intro is me explaining what we’re doing for a few seconds.”
Testing the speakers once more, I turned on the camera and had the guys stand on either side of me. They were all taller than I was by at least two inches, but I was pretty sure Jimin was wearing lifts.
“So what am I doing with the deities of dance? Dancing, of course. The four of us will be doing a random dance challenge with BTS songs and some iconic ones afterwards. The songs may be new or old, but either way the chorus will play and we have to do our best at doing the correct choreography. Got it, guys?” I looked at each of them.
“Got it!”
“Sounds fun!”
“Let’s get it!”
I smiled, “Alright, let’s clear the floor. I’ve mostly followed J-Hope and Suga when learning dances, so I’ll be doing their stuff most of the time.” I looked over to the assigned helper. “Yoosung, start the video please. Video links will be in the description.”
The intro music played. Then the countdown began. | “I need you girl, wheh…” started playing, and the guys began doing their thing. I joined in the body rolls and steps. I really liked doing this one. I think there was even an “in heels” cover somewhere on my channel.
Thirty minutes later, the list ended and the boys said that there were some they needed to practice again. They were smiling and laughing which was a good sign. I really just wanted them to have some fun even if I was chugging down a whole TaTa water bottle. They had stamina for the gods, and I barely had it for myself.
Hoseok laughed at my huge sigh after water spilled down my chin, “Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Good thing I brought a towel.” I got the small towel out of my bag and wiped my sweat on the way to the small puddle, but the assistant was already mopping it up. “Oh, thanks.”
“No problem.” He smiled and then set up the next round of songs.
I spoke to the camera again, so glad I wouldn’t have to edit this myself or I’d probably die of embarrassment.
“So, how was that, Jimin?”
“It was fun! I wanna do more!”
Taehyung laughed, “Even though you went the wrong way during--”
Jimin became a giggly mochi as he hit Tae’s arm, “Shut up!”
“Well, we have time for one more video. It’s iconic dances of all time. Do you still want to do it?”
They all said yes, of course, so we went into the second round of dances. I had learned so much more ever since coming to Korea, and we got excited when our favorites came on or ones that brought nostalgia. Hobi was a bit shy to join some even though he was shaking his hips or moving his arms from the side.
And then fifteen minutes in, “Troublemaker” came on. Taehyung was Jimin’s Hyuna, and I did the Queen’s part by myself. I knew they probably wouldn’t dance with me to this type of song, and I understood. It was just the chorus, but as it went on, I couldn’t help but feel kinda left out? That’s the best way to describe it. Even though I was doing well, I was about to go back to the sidelines until I felt a presence behind me and arms under mine.
Hobi danced the rest of the short section with me, letting me put my palms on top of his. The song launched into the slow part, and let me tell you. Time literally slowed down. It felt really natural to be doing this with him. Our bodies moved in sync like they were one and he kept his manner hands as much as he could. But damn. Our chemistry.
I smiled and he grinned back. Then the snippet ended and the next song came on. My heart was going fast, so I took a break from a few songs to get a drink of water. He continued to dance with his members. A girl was shook and that girl was me.
Chung Ha’s “Love You” came on near the end and J-Hope grabbed my hand to pull me to the dance floor. He was adorkable as he placed me in front of him. This time, Jimin got to be the main girl and Taehyung did backup. I did my best not to be extra, but this dance probably wasn’t going to get into the final cut anyways. When it was time for the full body roll and hand over waist moment, I took my chance to grab the back of his hand for just a moment.
Five more choruses, and it was done. The boys said how much fun they had on camera while I forced my attention to anywhere but J-Hope. We were all breathing hard and then off. We all high fived each other and used our sweat towels to wipe off our perspiration. I did a quick pit sniff as slyly as I could, and Jimin smiled at me. We giggled at each other.
They all helped me pack up even though Hoseok helped me the most. Tae and Jimin went into the hall to talk about something and said they’d be back soon.
“I don’t mean to be rude, but why were you late? It couldn’t have taken that long for just some shorts.”
“Oh, uh. They wanted help with a Christmas song. We really wanted to make an album for it this year. That’s what they’re probably talking about right now. We’re gonna record some more once we get back to the dorms.”
A vague memory popped in my head, “Is it that one Taehyung…”
Hoseok nodded, and I smiled. So they were gonna end up singing it together after all. That made me happy.
“I’m glad. They deserve to sing together.” I said as I zipped up the last bag.
That’s when the boys came back in. Taehyung apologized for taking so long. Hobi said that she knew about the song, and they smiled at her. Jimin looked like he wanted to say something but decided not to and told us to ignore him.
I giggled, “I guess that’s it then. It was an honor to work with you guys. I hope we can do some more videos again some time.”
“Nooo, don’t gooo. Come to dinner with us?”
“I thought we were just gonna get takeout and watch movies before hitting the studio. Y’know, back at the dorms.” J-Hope said, confused.
Not gonna lie, I was confused too, “Well, if you’re gonna do all that. I don’t wanna intrude. I’ve taken up enough of your time.”
Taehyung wasn’t having it as he grabbed my arm and pulled me along, “No, no, no. We’re going out to eat together. There’s a place nearby that I haven’t gotten to try when not in a rush. It’ll be fun. Jimin, carry her stuff.”
The pink haired man grabbed the duffle in my right hand while Hobi followed behind, holding my other bag. The excited puppy-like Taehyung went on and on about how good the cold noodles were at this restaurant and how they’d have one of their managers drive me home instead of me having to take a cab or the train. I thought Why not? Free food! And ordered a few sushi rolls and we shared a huge bowl of cold noodles. It was really fun.
They asked me about videos and who I had gotten to interact with over the years. Hobi and Tae seemed the most interested while Jimin’s attention was more on the bottle of soju that a fan at another table ordered for them. It was even better that I could also ask them questions that I had been wondering about for years! Most importantly, which ARMY got the Bangtan Universe timeline correct? I know they had watched videos to see if anyone had. They were curious like that especially when it came to their fans and their content.
J-Hope replied that no one had gotten it 100% right, but a certain youtuber had gotten about 86% right but switched several key events. I asked who.
“That’s for us to know, and for you to find out.” Jimin winked at me and then got shy, hitting Joon’s arm. “Ah, that’s so cheesy.”
We had gotten a booth, but the boy with the boxy smile was the one sitting next to me while the two others sat across from us. About three hours had passed by with us just talking. Then it was time for me to upload the footage to my computer and send it to my editor. I wondered if she was up. I needed to fangirl to someone who would keep it a secret until it was uploaded.
I laughed and called her, “Hiya.”
“Oh my god, girl!” She squeaked. “Are you serious? You really shot this video today? Like, today today?”
“Yeah.” I chuckled. “I told you what I was gonna be doing.”
“Yeah, but you never said who it was gonna be with. BTS? I am so proud of you, but also. Mama can’t edit this without some notes. Some tea worthy notes.”
I had just gotten out of the shower, so I was doing my face mask and night routine in my oversized jumper and ankle socks. We usually talked like this while she did the first round of editing and then she’d would text me for anything else she needed info on. Like always, she ran the conversation just because that’s how our relationship worked.
“It wasn’t much. We just danced. They were late because of work stuff, so I was able to record some solo intros for you to choose from. Should I have gotten some more intros with them it it? I felt like the first one was good enough.”
Her deep voice laughed, “If you think it’s good enough, it probably is. But stop being so shy. What was is like? Who’s hottest in person?”
“You say that as if Hobi doesn’t own my heart and soul. Do you expect another answer?” I replied, remembering the dances we did...and his hands on my waist. His hands in my hands. His front pressed up against my back. How in sync our moments were.
“Y/N!!!!” My editor yelled.
I nearly dropped my phone as I dropped, “Yea?”
“Where did you go and why did your breathing get heavier? No wait...” She gasped. “Gurl. He did not. He. Did. NOT!!!”
She had gotten to that one. You knew it. The music played from her computer, and you could hear it through the phone. She was screaming at the top of her lungs from excitement. Her words were incomprehensible until her neighbor yelled at her. After apologizing, she was back.
“Hyuna! He danced behind you like that? TaeTae and Chim even left the stage because y’all were getting it on. This isn’t going in the video is it?”
“No! No way. I’d get fucking murdered if any sasaengs or worse, hardcore ARMY, saw that. I might put that in a blooper reel. Might, in like two million years. Also, we do Chung Ha’s song together too, so cut that out please. I quite enjoy living.”
She squealed quietly again, “Please tell me you got his number!”
I scoffed, “Nah, but he did help me pack up afterwards. Also, Tae made sure I ate dinner with them. A manager drove me back home, so that was fun.”
She was probably gonna ask what we talked about over dinner, but there was a loud crash and the sound of a dog whining. She had to go. I ended up falling asleep to the latest episode of Hello Counselor and waking up to my phone going absolutely insane. I woke up with drool on my face and the mask barely hanging on.
Luckily, it had been charging nearby. So I grabbed it and I couldn’t believe it. Apparently I had uploaded a video last night that had now reached 1 million views already. So many comments were pouring in. I had to turn off notifications before my phone literally exploded. It was already very hot.
“Wh-what the fuck?” My tired brain tried to understand what was going on.
Underneath the YouTube notifs was a text from my editor.
> Hey, I edited the video while my dog had to go the hospital last night and decided to uploaded it since I finished. Hope you don’t mind! ^_^
> OMG, girl. Check the video. You’re trending already!
I am gonna kill you <
> Love you too! Call me when you can! ^3^
I refreshed the page and it was almost at 3 million. I wanted to look at the comments, I really did. But I also was fucking terrified. There were so many missed calls and my Twitter and my Insta were also blowing up. I had to turn off every notification ever and make my own posts to maybe quell the flames.
Twitter: Holy shit, guys! My editor uploaded that for me as a surprise...to me. Thanks to @bts_twt for all the working with me, but I’m scared to look at the comments *scared face*
Instagram Story: Appreciate the support but stop blowing me up, thx!
Even though it was a lot of good news that I was seeing at first glance, it took me way too long to get rid of all my notifications. Also, I knew that was getting hate. Yeah, I had been doing this for years but I had a soft heart especially for things I cared about a lot. It’s not like I had time to prepare myself for any of this. | Deep breaths. I had to take deep breaths and made an instagram poll.
Read the comments on my YT vid or no?
Of course most of them said yes with the hope of their comment being seen and liked by me. Fine, I would, but D had to be on the phone with me as I did from my laptop just as moral support and to make me feel better about any mean ones. I probably had on more comment filters than necessary anyways, but just in case.
I scrolled down and there was a lot of good. A lot of people laughed at the forgotten bits of choreo and how exaggerated they were when doing the other’s solo dances. There were a lot of comments that had a timestamp around 38:22.
“D?”
“Mm-hmm?”
“What’s at 38 minutes and 22 seconds?”
Her voice went high, “Nothing?”
I smacked my lips and whispered, “Girl, I swear to god, if that’s what I think it is…”
“No, don’t--”
I clicked and there on my screen was J-Hope and I dancing to “Troublemaker” together. The other time stamp was 56:04. Guess what that was? You guessed it. “Love You” which I didn’t mind as much, but I was gonna die. My face got so warm.
“Oh my gahd. Oh my fucking god. I’m dead. I’m gonna die.” I took a deep breath and contemplated letting it out. Eventually, I did. “I can’t go outside today or tomorrow or ever again!”
D scoffed, “Gurl, it’s not like they know this was recorded yesterday or whatever. It could’ve been done a long time ago.”
I paced around my apartment, phone pressed to my ear and voice rising, “Denessa, Jimin’s hair was blonde until a week ago until it became pink which it is in my video. They’re gonna know it’s hella recent. Also, also, Taehyung posted a selca yesterday about having a good time dancing. They’re gonna connect the dots and murder me for messing with their oppas!”
“If I was there, I’d slap you. Get a hold of yourself, girly. So what if it’s recent? They aren’t gonna kill you. As if you hadn’t gotten death threats before. Did anything happen then?”
“Nothing dramatic, just the letters.”
“Exactly. You can throw those out. You’ll be fine. Anyways, if you really do feel unsafe, then you can call the police. They’ll actually help you here.”
I breathed, “You’re right. You’re right. I do feel bad because I feel as though they’ll get mad at me for adding those moments. Also, I just don’t want any rumors.”
“I feel bad for putting them in. They just looked so cute! I’ll edit it out and reupload.”
“Just keep them in unless we get in trouble. It’s out there now. People have saved the clips already.” I chuckled and heard a text come through. After checking I wanted to die again. “Hey, it’s the manager. I’ll text you later.”
“Good luck, girly.”
Gertrude sent me a number and said to call it asap. I did even though my stomach felt like it was a hole or emptiness. I decided to make a bowl of cereal as I waited for the other side to pick up and also prayed that it wasn’t Bang PD or the legal team of some corporation wanting to sue me for the content.
A deep and chipper voice answered, “Hello, (Y/N)?”
“Hi...yeah, it’s me.”
“Good. It’s Hoseok.”
J-Hope! I nearly choked on a Cheerio, “Um. Hi, Hoseok. What-uh, what made you need me to call you? Before you say anything, it was my editor who did everything. I had no idea she uploaded it until last night. It’s not the first time she’s done this but I didn’t mean for anything to happen like--”
“Hey, hey, calm down. I watched it with the guys. I was staring a lot, huh?”
I nodded but then realized he couldn’t see me, “Y-yeah...I noticed that too. We’ve got good chemistry though.” What was I saying? That’s probably not what he wanted. “I can tell her to edit it out or the parts where we danced together. It’s no biggie.”
He chuckled, “No, it isn’t that. I’m actually glad she kept them in, actually. We’ve been wanting a new image lately, and I think this’ll help move it in the right direction.”
“Really?” Said I who was quite shook.
“Really.” He shifted the phone before speaking again. “The fans aren’t giving you a hard time, are they?”
“No. They’re actually being really nice. Just the usual hate that I deal with on a much grander scale because you know, it’s trending and all.”
“Congrats!” He said, a smile in his voice.
I didn’t want him to hang up, and I didn’t have anything to do today. Still, I felt like we should be saying something even though this was the most comfortable silence I had ever experienced.
“What are you--?” Hobi said the same time as I said, “Is that--” We laughed at the cross over and told the other to go first. He was older, so he spoke.
He asked what I was doing for Christmas since there was a ball he wanted to invite me to as his date. All of BTS would be escorting someone, mostly friend, family, or ARMY. Basically, he saw you as a friend and wanted to spend more time with me. I was not shook. I was not shaken nor stirred.
I was shooketh.
“So, we’re going as friends?” I asked just to make sure my heart could calm down a bit.
He hesitated, “Yes. Does that mean you’re coming?”
“Yeah. Sounds fun. What’s the dress code?”
“I’ll send you something. We’ll match!” The smile in his voice was evident.
I blinked, “What do you mean you’ll send me something. Hoseok, you don’t even know my--”
“Uh, sorry. Hyung needs me for something. See you soon. Bye!”
Beep. He hung up. I looked at myself in the mirror, making my pajamas as tight as possible. Just looking at my body trying to see what he saw. It wasn’t anything too special. Then again, he did like black girls. I smirked and then broke out into a full out smile and held my cheeks. My chest felt like it was a ball of light. Jung Hoseok was my friend. I was so lucky! Thank goodness I stayed in Korea.
I just stayed low for a while after the video came out. Yeah, the death threats and racial slurs increased in my inboxes and messages of all sorts, but that just meant my block button was getting used a lot more too. About a week had passed and most of them had gone away to the latest scandal and relationship drama or whatever.
No one told me to edit out the moments of me and J-Hope dancing together. I guess it was because it was seen through a logical lense for the most part. The dances required two people to dance together, and it wasn’t extremely sexual. Manner hands were obvious and made even more obvious by D’s editing skills. I thanked her for that. To be completely honest, I was sorta really glad that it was kept there and that a certain channel called KMusicAndBlackWomen asked if she could include it in her next video.
With Hoseok’s permission, I was able to say yes. The two of us eventually met up again and he asked once more if the comments were bad. He was really worried because he knew there were some real asshats who claimed to be their fans even though they’d never want someone so hateful in their fandom. We even grabbed lunch where I told him about the awful Winterview that would be happening two days before the ball.
“Why’s it so awful? I mean, I don’t really watch it but everyone seems to enjoy watching it every year.”
I sighed, “One of the hosts is always saying slightly racist, well completely racist things and people laugh it off. I just smile too because I’m not one for confrontation.” I stirred my hot cocoa and watched the mini marshmallows melt.
“If they’re saying dumb shit, then call them out.” Hoseok gave me an unexpected answer. “At least let them know it’s not ok, or they’re gonna keep doing it. Online comments can only do so much. I’m sure they’ll stop or at least watch what they say if you do it during the interview.”
“No promises. It’s just they’re so much popular than I am.” I didn’t say the name since I knew Hobi worked closely with her.
He held your hand on the table for a moment, “Listen. There’s only one of them and there are millions of black fans who hate to hear that person say racist stuff. If you won’t do it for you, do it for the fans. Yours and theirs who usually have to keep quiet.”
I hoped Hoseok was right. Putting on basic foundation before I left, I made sure I had everything I needed since I’d be out all day. I also took migraine medicines because I had been dreading this day. This time would be my fourth time doing this.
More importantly, I hoped I had the guts to say something when she said some dumb shit. I had to laugh at myself. Not “if” but “when” because I knew she was gonna spew some bull from that useless mouth of hers.
Like every year prior, we shared the same dressing room. I was to wear a simple red and cream colored Gucci dress with a long sleeve shirt under which was the same creamy tone along with green stockings and a small Christmas hat pinned into my hair. Later on a red and green suit would be my outfit because we had a 15 minute intermission for the hour long livestream.
“I’ll be watching! You’ll do great. Fighting!” Hobi texted me, and I smiled at my phone.
“What, did you get a notification for a discount on dashikis?” It was her. Winnie.
I set my jaw, “Nope. Just a friend of mine wishing me luck.” I turned my phone on silent and slid it into my pocket.
Before she could say something else, we were called to our seats. Then it was lights, cameras, action. The four guests were introduced: Me, Winnie, a male YouTuber named Carlos, and underrated solo idol James. Carlos was a friend of mine and had the longest hair out of anyone there. It was braided back and tied with a red and green ribbon.
We would be answering questions and playing games all night. Things went well, and Winnie kept quiet for the most part. She was polite, which was sort of weird. Like, she was usually polite but just racist towards black people in a passive aggressive way.
“So, (Y/N),” James asked. “You’ve had a video go viral lately. What do you think attributed to it getting so popular in such a short period of time?”
“Well, uh, it was an accidental upload of sorts. My editor had spare time to edit as she was waiting for her dog to get treated--he’s ok by the way, and she just posted it for me. As to what caused the popularity, it was BTS. They’re good guys and popular and talented, and people are constantly looking for content of them. I just happened to be the supplier of it that day.”
Winnie commented, “You’re used to supplying people with their daily fix, aren’t you?”
Drugs. She was talking about me being a drug supplier. Not just me, either, every black person that ever breathed. As if there hadn’t been thousands of cases where people of color had been framed or wrongfully killed because of suspicion. As if it were a joke she was allowed to make. The others gave a quiet laugh, looking for me to say if it was ok to find this humorous.
“You’re a comedian, right?” I asked.
“Yeah?”
“Then try saying something funny instead of the racist bullshit you’re always spewing.” Everyone got silent. “Just because I’m black I must be a drug dealer? That’s what you’re saying.”
She tried to backtrack, “N-no. It’s just that--”
I wasn’t going to let her, “I’ve dealt with you for three years, Winnie. I’m putting my foot down. Make a real joke for once instead of turning yourself into one. Let’s continue.” I looked at Carlos and put on a smile. “Yeah, so it was a lot of fun getting to interact with them. BTS are just a bunch of sweethearts. I’m lucky I got to interact with them.”
The main host cleared his throat, “Um, well, that’s...that’s good to hear (Y/N). We’re gonna take a quick commercial break and be back in just a moment.”
All eyes were now on me after CUT was called. Makeup artists started to approach the stage and do touchups for everyone.
Winnie was shocked, “What was that, (Y/N)? Couldn’t you just smile through it? You know how I joke.” She tried to be buddy buddy with me now.
“I do, and that wasn’t a joke. Well, not a good one at least. Good jokes are funny. Also, I’ve been smiling through your so-called jokes and dying inside for way too long. I’m done. If you can’t take it, then don’t try to dish it out.”
I held up my finger when my makeup artist redid my lips and smiled at him, “Thanks, Saeran.” I smacked my lips. My smile faded when looking Winnie right in her blue colored contacts. “If the next thing out of your mouth isn’t an apology, I don’t wanna hear it.”
“Alright, 30 seconds everyone!” The director called.
Everyone scrambled to their seats and she kept silent. I scoffed. Of course she wouldn’t apologize. She was too good for that, apparently. As the stream went on, there was more laughter and reading of questions. The games still went on. Once the last one was cleaned up, we could answer ten more questions and then say our goodbyes.
“Question #9 is for (Y/N). Will you ever make a video about the racism and ignorance you have faced in Korea, or is it small enough where it’s not worth talking about?”
“Awwww.” The others went sadly.
I know what I had to say, and I would mean every word of it, “Well, I think the earlier event that happens answers part of your question. I’ve been here a long time, and I’ve mentioned being the victim of ignorance many times. Less than the good times, but I still think it’s about time that it gets its own video. It’ll come sometime January, probably.” I smiled and laughed.
Everyone nodded and then the last question was being read, “Final one. Is there anything you really want for Christmas?”
James said, “A girlfriend would be nice.”
“I’d like to see my dogs back home in Canada.”
“A new look.” was Carlos’s reply.
I thought for a moment before saying, “World peace or a really long nap.”
Everyone smiled and laughed.
“Well, that’s it. Thank you all fo--”
“Actually. I wanna change mine.” Winnie said, surprising everyone.
Girl was about to do some shit, I could just feel it. I braced myself for another snide comment reeking of ego.
She turned to me, “I want (Y/N)’s forgiveness for Christmas.” She stood and bowed at my feet like a proper Korean.
I was shocked to say the least. Was this actually happening? Where was I supposed to look? I wasn’t exactly sure how to feel about this.
“(Y/N) I am sorry. I have been a complete jerk to you for no reason. Honestly, I don’t wanna be known for making cheap shots at you, so I apologize for every one I’ve made and I promise I won’t do it anymore.”
My mouth flapped open several times before I could say something, “Thanks for apologizing. I’ll have to see you actually do what you say before I can completely and honestly forgive you.”
What the fuuuuuuck? I got out of my seat and quickly went to the dressing room where I took off my Christmas suit. The two of us didn’t say anything else to each other than good nights when I left first and “Happy Holidays!” following after. I needed a drink. |
Good thing D had texted me earlier. She said we needed to celebrate me growing a spine. We got wine drunk at her place as people tweeted about the “Feud” between me and Winnie or whatever. When I got home the next day, there were a few boxes waiting for me. I opened them once I was inside.
It was the most beautiful snowy dress ever. Elsa could only dream of such a dress. It was forest green with white beading to make it look as though snowflakes had landed on the dress. Trying it on, it was perfect. How did he know what my sizes were? There was another two boxes. One had snow colored heels and the other had...a tiara! Oh my god!
I couldn’t believe it. I had to text him.
I twirled in the dress for a good hour before finally taking it off. Wow, ok, so I had to do my own makeup for this? I needed to step up my game. Internet beauty gurus here I come! Wait, I needed to eat first. | The day soon arrived where I got my makeup done by a store known for giving free makeovers. I tweaked it to be a bit more sparkly when I got home. We walked the red carpet which is something that I’ve done before but never with someone so popular and kind. It was beautiful inside where all sorts of idols danced and talked to one another.
It was a good time to just relax and chill with Hoseok. I was nervous, but his calming aura put me at ease. While talking people brought up my Winterview, and I stood my ground. A lot of people were proud of me. Hobi seemed to smile every time someone said they were glad I finally stood up to her. Apparently, a lot of people had kept silent about her sucky brand of “humor”
“So, is there anything you wanna do before the new year rings in?”
“I don’t think so. I just wanna enjoy my time with you today and not worry about the future for a little bit y’know?”
He smiled, “You’re so cute. I’m honestly really proud of what you did the other day. It makes me glad to see you speaking for yourself.”
I said thanks and asked if he wanted anything to do before the year was over. He said he wanted to do two things he had never done before. Those two things were 1. Beat Junkook in a round of Overwatch and 2. Do something very Christmassy
“Like what?”
“Drink eggnog, open presents in pajamas, Christmas karaoke, kisssomeoneunderthemistletoe. Y’know. Something like that.”
I blinked, “What was that last one?”
He blushed and no longer met my eyes, “I want to kiss someone under the mistletoe. I’ve always seen it in movies, but I’ve never done it myself. Not like I really could without getting angry fans in return.”
“Why not kiss one of the members. I’m sure the fans will find that cute.”
“Well, mostly because I wanna kiss someone I like in a romantic way or even love. Also, kissing them would just be fan service.
I scoffed, “As if you don’t kiss each other all the time. You’re Jung Hoseok.”
He laughed, “Ah, I guess you’re right, but there’s actually someone I had in mind.”
“Who?”
Hobi took a deep breath and leaned next to my ear, “You...if it’s ok.”
He came away from my ear to look me in the eyes. The question was obvious, but I still couldn’t believe he was actually asking me this. I bit my sparkling magenta lip and nodded. If I could kiss Jung Hoseok, it’d be a dream come true. Even better if I was helping him reach one of his goals as well.
A smile came over his face, “Really?”
“Yes. I would love to my your mistletoe kiss.”
Hoseok squeezed my hands tightly and then searched the skies for the mistletoe drone that was flying the plant to random areas. As the song came to a close, he gently waltzed me to be under it with him. The only problem was that other couples were trying to do the same as well. Fans weren’t allowed to be in here, so it wouldn’t go too viral unless someone mentioned it on social media.
No one usually talked about the balls until months later anyways.
So, when the music finally ended, it was me and J-Hope underneath the mistletoe. No, not J-Hope, Hoseok. This was him and not his public persona. He was the man who wanted me of all people to be his mistletoe kiss.
“Ready?”
I nodded even though I wasn’t sure if I was ready. I wanted this for sure, though. There was no doubt about that in my mind. Both of us closed our eyes, and he smooched my lips. His were so soft. His Christmas pine needle cologne was even stronger than before and pricked my nose. I smiled. It was more than just a peck as he held my face in his hands. My heart was on fire.
He hugged me afterwards, “Thank you.”
“No, thank you.” I replied, a bit breathless.
The two of us danced closer than ever, a new song having come on. It was a bit more upbeat than the previous waltz, but us two just swayed together in our own little world. Even though it had been a hard and stressful couple of weeks full of unexpected events and words from every which way, this had been the best and most unplanned thing.
Hobi bought a dress and crown that made me feel like a princess and then he kissed me underneath the mistletoe. Even if I was in rags, that kiss. Those few seconds would’ve made me feel like a princess anyways.
And with that kiss I knew or at least hoped that he wanted more. He wanted me. What a Merry Christmas it had been, and it wasn’t even over yet.

SoundCloud Issuing Swathe Of Strikes Against Producers This Morning
If you’re friends with any producers on Facebook, there’s a good chance you saw at least one of them complaining about SoundCloud this morning. A number of producers, a total we haven’t even begun to calculate yet, have been struck with a bevy of copyright strikes, most of them dubstep producers.
Among those affected were Mastadon, Slimez, Subtronics, Xaebor, Ubur and Wooli. There are likely many more who haven’t yet made the news public or perhaps even more coming. We don’t know.
It seems that the takedowns are a result of a malicious third party who is claiming copyright on songs not belonging to them. There’s currently no way for SoundCloud users to dispute directly with whoever has claimed copyright, so it’s near impossible to accurate track down whoever might be committing this nefarious act. However, evidence points to an account calling itself “DR EGG” which has been leaving strange comments with many of the producers affected by this incident.
While anger and frustration should of course be directed at this unknown perpetrator, a fair amount of producers are also bringing to light SoundCloud’s own ineffective security and clearance process. A statement from SVDDEN DEATH given exclusively to Your EDM reads, “SoundCloud is ruining the dubstep community by allowing anyone to claim a song as their own and remove it from existence. Until they fix their take down policy, I will no longer be uploading songs to this platform.”
A petition has been started on Change.org in an attempt to bring light to SoundCloud’s floundering and often ineffective copyright system. Sign here if you wish to add your voice to the discussion.
A statement from SoundCloud to Your EDM states, “Our takedown notification process is designed to respect copyright, and it is our policy to review all infringement claims per the guidelines outlined in our Help Center.
“Upon review, we have determined these copyright claims are not valid, and are happy to report we’ve reinstated all affected content.”

someone just false copyright striked ALL of my songs that are 100% me and now they are gone on my pro account I’ve spent…

One thing I hate about going through the music tag on Tumblr is just how prevalent Spotify players have become over the years. I remember having to make a Spotify account just to listen to them, when anyone could just upload an MP3 file, and listen straight from Tumblr, and not be redirected to Spotify.
The more Spotify becomes prevalent, the less I wanna use it, and the more I go back to listening to CD quality music. Because Spotify’s not it for me. I’m sure my friends are gonna post that...
that thing with Spotify every year. Some kind of rewind, like what you listened to the most or some shit. I don’t use Spotify enough to know or remember what it’s called.
But yeah, I’m sure I’m gonna start seeing that shit once we enter December. And I got nothing to show, since, ya know, I don’t use Spotify as much.
It’s even worse if you pay $10 or whatever a month to fucking stream music. I mean, what the fuck? This was not a thing earlier in my lifetime, and I’m not even 30 yet.
I don’t blame anyone, though. It’s essentially forced/planned obsolescence. Where we’re legally not allowed to publish copyrighted work onto sites like YouTube, so we have to use “legit” services like Pandora or Spotify, and if you want more features, like fucking skipping a track, you gotta pay for a premium membership, which you gotta pay for every month. I get that.
And that’s what pisses me off. I’m old enough to remember the first year of YouTube popping up online. The day Google bought YouTube, and eventually adding ads in every video, increasing as the years passed by... it was infuriating, to say the least.
Back to Spotify: we’re ditching CDs/physical media, things that are tangible, that we can own once we pay for it, and replaced it with streaming where we pay for a license to view it. Tumblr’s music player was/is fine. But that fucking porn ban, and acting the same way YouTube does now, where we as private citizens (for a lack of a better word) can’t upload copyrighted work without the author or distributor’s permission... our ability to share content freely... is alarming.
And it’s just really fucking annoying. Because I signed up for Spotify using my Facebook account. If that integration disintegrates, I’d have to actually make a Spotify account to use the basics of basics.

Western social media has no respect for Japanese online artists - and it’s killing online art
The visual arts have evolved to suit the most popular medium of each era. In nowadays’ case, the internet is the go-to method of sharing the fruits of one’s labour). However, as stated in that tweet thread of mine you can see if you scroll down a bit (assuming you’re viewing this post on chariot313.tumblr.com) different cultures have different attitudes towards how their customers react to their products. This include you know what fuck the formalities, I’ll just say it: The exclusively western concept of someone seeing something they like online and hitting the share button to stimulate the “Haha, upvotes go ‘brrr’!” dopamine in their smooth-ass lizard brain will be the death of online Japanese artists. Or rather, it has been already, and you would know that if you’ve ever seen an artist’s Twitter bio be in mostly Japanese save for one sentence in English; “Reprint is prohibited.”.
If you want to hear me rationalize the absurd claim I just made, feel free to click the “Keep reading” button. Otherwise, turn back now and save yourself from me possibly wasting your time.
Alright, you’ve chosen to stick with me. Just remember, you asked for this.
Introduction
Social media as a whole is based around sharing (posting, uploading, submitting, tweeting, blogging, streaming etc.) and other’s reactions to what one has shared (views, likes, subscribers, favorites, followers, upvotes, retweets, reblogs, crossposts, etc.).
However, miscommunication and culture shock due to language barriers and cultural differences is one of the many factors that can negatively affect one’s experience on social media. For example, the Japanese artist community, active on sites such as Twitter, Pixiv, NicoNico Seiga, FC2 blogs, etc.. Twitter is mostly inhabited by English-speaking users. Here in the west, our main motive for sharing something on social media (such as art) is for fame and recognition. However, over in the East, most online artists only upload their works to the internet for personal use. I’m not saying one cultural attitude towards sharing art is better than one another, but when these two worldviews collide, the culture shock can negatively affect the careers of artists who are unaware of the other culture’s differing views on sharing art.
So, I’ve listed numerous social media platforms below and I’m going to elaborate on how each of them contributes to the alienation and discouragement of Japanese artists.
DO NOT WITCH-HUNT OR HARASS THE CULPRITS I’VE LISTED AS EXAMPLES; THEY ONLY SERVE TO BACK UP MY ARGUMENT
Twitter
Go into the twitter search bar and type in the name of an anime character (usually female). What do you find? Most likely an account named after said character that does nothing but post unsourced fan art of said character with cheesy “in-character” captions on them.
Exhibit A [NSFW]
Exhibit B [NSFW]
Exhibit C [very NSFW]
Aside from that, Twitter isn’t that bad in this regard, as a lot of the art that gets stolen is originally uploaded to Twitter anyway. But I’m just getting started.
Wattpad
Ah yes, Wattpad. One of the “trinity” of fan fiction communities (the others being fanfiction.net and AO³), featuring many different stories with varying degrees of readability. The problem is the option to add a picture to adorn your fanfiction, at which point most of the authors google “<fanfic subject> fan art” and use something from there without considering the repercussions. This causes Wattpad to be one of the top results when reverse image searching to find the source of some fan art, aside from another site I’ll mention later on...
Reddit
There’s a subreddit I often browse called r/ChurchOfJirou, a community for sharing anything relating to the character Kyouka from My Hero Academia (I mean come on, she’s like the cutest thing ever). A lot of the posts on that sub are sharing fan art of the aforementioned character. One of the rules in the sidebar is “always include the source in the title or the comments”. And most of the submissions make good on that rule. However, a lot of the posts are from Japanese artists on Twitter or Pixiv, and following the source link leads you to find the artist’s bio, which usually has something along the lines of “don’t repost my work”. And what’s more, the biggest offenders (of submitting art to the sub without OP’s permission) were the moderators of the subreddit. You know, the ones who are supposed to be enforcing the rules? I even got so fed up that I called it out, to which one of the mods replied,
“It doesn’t really make a difference, does it?”
Luckily, not all subreddits are like this. For example, other MHA-related subs like r/BokuNoShipAcademia or r/ChurchOfMinaAshido have moderators that are more considerate of artists’ wishes. Overall, Reddit is usually a hit-or-miss when it comes to this kind of thing. At best, you’ve got subs like the two I just mentioned which make sure to respect artists, and at worst you’ve got people trying (and failing) to edit out watermarks. Also, not to self-promote, but this tweet of mine represents this situation pretty well:
Imgur
Imgur isn’t that bad compared to the rest of these, but it’s a common one that people link to when asked for the source of whatever they’ve shared on Twitter or Reddit or whatever.
Amino Apps
Amino Apps is a strange case. I don’t know much about it since I’ve never used it, but from what I do know it seems similar to Reddit in that there are numerous communities for different niches. That said, judging from the way it clogs up Google image search results, I doubt OC art is posted there often.
YouTube
Now, you may be thinking, “How does a video site rip off others’ art?”. The answer is uploads of soundtracks. Look for any OST from a video game or anime on YouTube and the picture used for the video will likely be some fan art by a Japanese Pixiv artist, usually one that forbids reposts of their work. Not only that, but if the uploader did bother to add the source in the description, it’s usually not even a link to the actual source, more likely a link to Zerochan or Pinterest or something. Now take into account that some of these videos get millions of views. Imagine working hard on something, and some numbnuts takes it, slaps some music onto it, uploads it to YouTube, and gets millions of views while you get next to nothing in comparison.
Exhibit A
Exhibit B (re-upload; original had nearly 40 million views before it was copyright claimed)
Exhibit C
and many many others
Pinterest
Alright, this is the big one. When Pinterest isn’t giving recipes or wardrobe ideas to suburban white moms, it’s clogging up Google reverse image search, punishing anyone who just wanted to find the source of some cute fan art. I feel like this meme by ZebitasMartinexSi on Facebook sums it up:
For example, this piece of Legend of Zelda art by Twitter artist @_nomeri_ (I’ll just link to it, since it would be hypocritical of me to embed the image even though @_nomeri_’s bio warns people not to repost their art). Good art, right? Well, if you right-click and hit “Search Google for image”...
...yeah. Pinterest is a plague. It thrives on theft. Even worse is when someone will post fan art on Twitter/Tumblr/Reddit/etc. and have the nerve to say “IDK the source I found it on Pinterest ^_^”. Or worse yet, they link to Pinterest saying it’s the source.
Instagram
While many other sites rag on Instagram for its reposting of memes, it’s no better when it comes to reposting fan art, especially from Pixiv. I’ve seen lots of stolen pieces with fan fictions written in the description. Personally, if I were an artist, I’d rethink my career choice if I saw my art reposted on Instagram with a half-assed fanfic under it, so I don’t blame Japanese artists who close their Pixiv accounts after seeing that. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to prevent it from happening in the first place.
DeviantArt
DeviantArt is more “renowned” across the web for its niche circles of bizarre fetish art, but in its defence, there are some legitimately good pieces on there. If you do find a good one though, try checking to see if all of the uploader’s pieces have a similar overall art style, because if not, that’s a sure sign of someone passing off some Pixiv user’s art as their own, which is unfortunately fairly common on DeviantArt.
9Gag
Not a whole lot to say about 9Gag. I mean, it does contribute to reposting of art, but nothing really separates it from the others on this list, aside from its watermarks. At least the watermark gives away the fact that something was reposted.
Know Your Meme
You know that Zelda pic by @_nomeri_ I was talking about earlier? Well, to add insult to injury, it became an object-labelling meme.
Imagine putting hours into something and politely asking others not to repost it, only to find that some nincompoops on r/DankMemes made it into an object-labelling meme.
But this isn’t KYM’s fault, per se. Know Your Meme only documents memes; they do not create them. However, as someone who regularly browses the Know Your Meme image galleries, I can say that the image gallery has essentially become Know Your Fan Art (unlawfully reposted fan art, that is).
Redbubble
There’s an NSFW artist I follow on Twitter by the name of Nico-Mo. A while ago, his Pixiv account was suspended, and there were numerous pictures on there that he had not uploaded to his Twitter or DeviantArt, so I found a mirror of one of those pieces on Gelbooru and reverse-image searched in hopes of finding it on his Twitter. No such luck. What came up instead was a .png of the piece made into a sticker being sold on Redbubble. In fact, that’s one of the major reasons why artists disapprove of their art being reposted, as it may find its way onto a sticker or a T-shirt being sold as merch without the original artist giving consent nor the artist receiving so much as a single nickel.
Facebook
Surprisingly, I think Facebook is one of the least offending sites on this list. Still worth mentioning, though.
Funnyjunk
Like Imgur, Funnyjunk isn’t that bad compared to some of the rest of these, but this exchange in the comments of a repost of an MHA artist that deleted their account (not hard to see why considering people straight-up ignored the big-ass watermark at the bottom) is proof enough of western social media’s flippant attitude towards ruining online artists’ careers.
Aggregator imageboards such as Yande.re, Konachan, Danbooru, Gelbooru, Rule34, SankakuComplex, Zerochan, etc.
I don’t think I need to explain these. But like Imgur, these are what most people link to when asked for source instead of bothering to find the original post.
We Heart It
I don’t know much about “We Heart It”, but it seems to be a “Pinterest Lite” considering it clogs up image search almost as much as Pinterest does.
iFunny
Basically the same as 9Gag, in the sense that its watermarks are a dead giveaway.
4chan
I’m not sure if 4chan really “counts” among these, as it’s a chat board where nearly everything is impermanent anyway. However, I was once on an NSFW subreddit where one submitter used a 4chan thread to get Patreon-exclusive material from an artist to upload to the sub (even though one of the rules of the sub was “no paywall content”), so that alone earns 4chan its spot on this list.
Tumblr
Yes, not even Tumblr is innocent. Although I’m sure you knew that. Similar to what I said about Twitter, look up any blog named after a fictional character and it’ll likely be chock-full of unsourced fan art.
“Why is this even important?”
Because if an artist sees that their work is being reposted, depending on the artist, they may delete the original post when they wouldn’t have to if people had just respected their wishes. Now, if an artist wants their works gone from the internet for other personal reasons, that’s up to them and we should respect them for it. But artists taking down their works due to mass reposting is 100% preventable, which is why it’s sad. If you don’t respect an artist, they won’t create art. Simple as that.
“Why do you care so much?”
Eh, I’m just weird like that. It just ticks me off when anything online, whether it be art, or a video, or whatever, is lost. In my opinion, nothing hurts more than clicking a Pixiv link on an imageboard and being greeted with “The work was deleted or the ID does not exist.”.
“But lots of western artists forbid reposting of their art too!”
Indeed, that is correct. But while many artists of every nationality and culture frown upon reproduction of their work, it seems only western social media is responsible for reposting art in the first place. I mean, why else do you think Japanese artists are saying “Reprint is prohibited” in English when the rest of their bio is in Japanese? Because English-speakers are the ones reposting.
“But exposure can help an artist!”
Yeah, that’s true...
...but “exposure” doesn’t mean much if those “exposed” to one’s work don’t know or care who it came from.
And if you need even more reasons, look no further than these posts about the same topic by other blogs:

also, not to self-promote but I made a thread on Twitter on this topic about a month ago that you can check out here.

Listen to Frank Iero’s “No Fun Club,” off the upcoming EP ‘Keep The Coffins Coming’
September 21 2017, 10:55 AM EDT By Cassie Whitt
Before the inception of Frank Iero And The Patience (née Frnkiero Andthe Cellabration); before, even, the end of My Chemical Romance, Frank Ierouploaded a one-minute-20-second noisy punk song called "Xmas Sux" to SoundCloud in mid-December 2012. The song ripped so hard that it was a damn shame it was made in jest. (Key lines include: "I don't give a fuck about Santa/I don't give a shit about cheer.")
"I did this thing as kind of a joke, and all of the sudden, I was like, 'Dammit! I really like that song. I want to do something with it for real,'" says Iero.
Thus was born “No Fun Club,” a more serious observance of anti-cheer that's getting its due nearly five years after its original incarnation.
Listen to it now:
youtube
Here, Iero discusses the song, his new EP Keep The Coffins Coming and exactly what it takes to be accepted into the club.
So, what the fuck is with the band name? Is it going to change again?
[Laughs.] Yes. The band name will change every time. Every time the band changes. I think that’s awesome. Why stop now? To me, it’s not confusing. I guess other people find it to be confusing, but to them, I say, “Don’t be silly.” It will always have my name in front if it is a solo project. It’s a way to keep me interested, because I have such a short attention span on things. I enjoy that honeymoon period where you start something new and you name it and cultivate it and figure out what it’s going to sound like. I really enjoy that. That old “What’s in a name?” idiom—-- Fuck that, man! Everything. Everything’s in a name. I enjoy it way too much to stop now. As far as this EP, to save on any kind of confusion with the digital age, it is rendered the Patience, but if you pay attention to the artwork, it has the name “Patients.” I was like, “That’s clever as fuck.” [Laughs.]
“No Fun Club,” the concept, is something that has predated the song a fair bit. Can you tell me the origin story?
I guess I started to think about how I felt about everything. [Laughs.] I think I was born in the No Fun Club. I put a name on it maybe two years ago. I think it started on the road, definitely, probably driving in a sprinter van somewhere and realizing that not only was I unhappy, but that everyone around me was too, so we could kind of find solace in each others’ misery. [Laughs.] Really, what it is is about just not having the energy to fucking impress anybody or even the want or need to be a part of that game, and realizing you don’t have anything to fucking prove, basically, and you’re not going to go out and fuckin’ pretend to be something you’re not and put on a fake smile that makes you even more sick to your stomach.
Is that the requirement to be in the club? If you had to put a list of requirements on the clubhouse, what would they be?
Oh, geez. Requirements for No Fun Club: “Don’t be a faker” is the first. No faking and no rules.
You got to record with Steve Albini for the new EP, which I know you were really stoked on.
Oh, hell yeah! When I got the call that he was free and wanted to work with us, I was like, [Raises voice a few octaves] “Fuuuuck!” It was a dream come true. I’ve been thinking about that working history for as long as I can remember. I think the first thing was picking up a guitar, then writing a song, then, “I gotta record with Steve Albini.” It was in that succession. It’s been a long time in the making.
Do you have any studio experiences that made it particularly special for you?
Here’s the thing: You’re immersed in it. You stay in the studio; and I think, for me, the best thing about it was that it was really a confidence-builder, because he wasn’t like this quintessential producer. He’ll even tell you, “I’m not a producer.” He didn’t come in like, “Fuckin’ change this! Play through this amp!” or anything like that. He was like, “This is your stuff. The reason you’re here and the reason you’re doing what you’re doing is that you know what you’re doing. And it’s really good. So, why would I come in and change anything? I want to listen to you and make the record that you want to make. I want to record the songs that you wrote the way you wrote them and the way you want to hear them back. That’s what I want to do for you.” It was such an amazing experience to go in there and to be in charge. He’s such a fantastic facilitator, just a genius when it comes to things. You mention a sound or a vibe, and he immediately gets to working and just knows what to do to give you that. That’s imperative in the studio: Not having to wait around for somebody to fumble through things. When you have somebody who is a master of their craft, I feel like that shows in their recordings.
Regarding your work as a lyricist: In a time when it’s less likely someone will pick up a CD and read lyrics in its booklet, you make sure to showcase your lyrics. You have a whole section for it on your website, and you tweeted out the words to “No Fun Club” a while ago. Why is it important for you to showcase your words in such a way?
When I was young and coming up listening to bands, I didn’t put as much emphasis on the lyrics of songs. I always felt like, “Well, if it’s a great song, it doesn’t matter what’s being said.” I think that just comes from an adolescent mentality, not really caring that much, just kind of throwing it together. I look to some of my favorite bands that would be like, “Ah, it doesn’t matter. It’s a joke I just kind of threw together. The music is the most important thing.” And I do agree that music is at the forefront, but at the same time, I don’t think I can ever love a song that I don’t connect to lyrically. Now, as an adult, writing, it’s very important to me that my sentiment is coming across the way I need it to come across and that the things I’m saying are clear and concise. I’m saying what I mean and I mean what I say. Throughout my career, I’ve been really fortunate to work with some really accomplished musicians and accomplished writers and people who really want to hone their craft and say important things, whether through guitars or other instruments or through their vocals and their lyrics. I’ve always found that to be so admirable. When it came time for me to take the mic, I wanted it to feel the same way. I wanted to feel like I was really speaking in a way that would affect people, as opposed to just being frivolous and not really caring.
Speaking of words: your EP Keep The Coffins Coming shares the title of the Julius Long book. Was it inspired by it?
I feel like a lot of times art imitates life, and at the same time, you draw inspiration from things that kind of just pass by you. It’s like driving down a highway and you see something out of the corner of your eye, and you’re like, “Whoa! What was that?” And you file it away. I think that happens a lot in Julius Long’s book. I came across the book… I loved the title, and although the EP doesn’t have anything to do with the pages in between that book, even though things are happening in the world right now are so intertwined with the things that go on in that books, the title for me meant something else. I wrote that down years ago, and threw it away for future reference.
When I started to think about the songs that were on the EP and where the EP came from, about how these compositions are a lot like these soldiers you kind of send out and kill off. You have to kind of bury them in order to relinquish control and release them into the world. The last step of any art project is the release, you know? I didn’t think that earlier on. I just thought that when you’re done with something, that’s the end of it. But it’s so much more than that. It’s relinquishing control and giving it to the masses and seeing what comes back in forms of inspiration and, hopefully, continued creativity. So, I thought about that, right? And I thought about these songs as these memories—these dead and gone creations, right? And I thought, “I love that title so much, maybe I should do a play on that?” Really, what I was saying was how you relinquish control of something, you let it out, and how hopefully something comes back. And I thought, “Well, maybe I shouldn’t fuck with the title at all. I should just keep it as-is, because I was inspired by it.” That’s how it came about. It’s this cycle of killing off your ideas, giving them away, and having them come back in this crazy cycle.
It’s sort of like—to get mystical with it—in the cycle of magic, you’re supposed to destroy the intent; and if something is going to come of it, it will come after that.
See? Man. It takes a witch to know a witch.
Frank Iero's Keep The Coffins Coming EP will be released Sept. 22 on all digital retailers; you can pre-order it right here.

Lil Dicky - Earth (Lyrics)
Lil Dicky – Earth [Intro: Lil Dicky] What up, world? It's your boy, just one of the guys down here. Well, I could be more specific. Uh, I'm a human, and I just wanted to, for the sake of all of us earthlings out there, just wanted to say:
[Chorus] We love the Earth, it is our planet We love the Earth, it is our home We love the Earth, it is our planet We love the Earth, it is our home
[Justin Bieber] Hi, I'm a baboon I'm like a man, just less advanced and my anus is huge
[Ariana Grande] Hey, I'm a zebra No one knows what I do, but I look pretty cool Am I white or black?
[Halsey] I'm a lion cub, and I'm always getting licked (Meow!)
[Zac Brown] How's it going? I'm a cow (Moo!) You drink milk from my tits (Moo)
[Brendon Urie] I'm a fat, fucking pig
[Hailee Steinfeld] I'm a common fungus
[Wiz Khalifa] I'm a disgruntled skunk, shoot you out my butthole
[Snoop Dogg] I'm a marijuana plant, I can get you fucked up
[Kevin Hart] And I'm Kanye West
[Chorus] We love the Earth, it is our planet We love the Earth, it is our home We love the Earth, it is our planet We love the Earth, it is our home We love the Earth
[Adam Levine] Ba-dum-da-dum-dum, ba-dum-da-di We are the vultures, feed on the dead
[Shawn Mendes] We're just some rhinos, horny as heck
[Charlie Puth] I'm just a giraffe, what's with this neck?
[Sia] Hippity-hop, I'm a kangaroo I hop all day, up and down with you
[Miley Cyrus] I'm an elephant, I got junk in my trunk
[Lil Jon] What the fuck? I'm a clam!
[Rita Ora] I'm a wolf. Howl!
[Miguel] I'm a squirrel, lookin' for my next nut
[Katy Perry] And I'm a pony, just a freak horse, heh-heh-heh But, uh, c'mon, get on (Yah) Giddee-up, let's ride
[Lil Yachty] I'm HPV, don't let me in
[Ed Sheeran] I'm a koala and I sleep all the time So what? It's cute
[Meghan Trainor] We love you, India
[Joel Embiid] We love you, Africa
[Tory Lanez] We love the Chinese
[Lil Dicky] We forgive you, Germany
[Chorus: Lil Dicky, (Snoop Dogg), Meghan Trainor, Lil Dicky & Sia, John Legend] Earth, it is our planet (It's our planet) We love the Earth (We love the Earth), it is our home (Home) We love the Earth, it is our planet (It is our planet) We love the Earth, it is our home We love the Earth
[Verse 3: Lil Dicky] I'm a man (Hello?) Can you hear me? (Anyone out there? Hello?) I've trudged the Earth for so damn long And still don't know shit (What's going on?) I hope it's not a simulation (Huh) Give each other names like Ahmed and Pedro And, yeah, we like to wear clothes, girls still look beautiful And it covers up our human dick (Woo), eat a lot of tuna fish But these days, it's like we don't know how to act All these shootings, pollution, we under attack on ourselves Like, let's all just chill (Hey), respect what we built (Hey) Like look at the internet! It's cracking as hell Fellas, don't you love the cum when you have sex? (Ayy) And I heard women orgasms are better than a dick (Uh) So what we got this land for? What we gotta stand for? Love, and we love the Earth (The Earth)
[Ariana Grande] Oh, yeah, baby, I love the Earth I love this planet
[Lil Dicky] Hey, Russia, we're cool Hey, Asia, all of you, c'mon Every one of you from the plains to the Sahara Let's come together and live
[Choir] Hum-dum-dum-dae-dum, hum-dum-dum-dae-dum

[Bad Bunny] Amamos la tierra
[Kris Wu] 我们爱地球
[Lil Dicky] (We love you, we love you) C'mon everybody, I know we're not all the same But we're living on the same Earth (We love you, we love you)

Guys, respect is a two way street. If an artist shares their art with you with the only rule being "please do not use/repost/etc" those are pretty simple requests. Ones that you really don't have to do anything extra to RESPECT. The artist doesn't have to share with you, doesn't have to produce for you. They do things because they enjoy it and they want to. Just like with musical artists. When you pirate their music, you hurt them, some of them have to stop creating because they can't keep 1/2
Last big talk about Art Theft and “Minor/Hater/Whatever thiefs stuff”
I’d say most of them are minor thought. They’ve never learned about copyright nor the idea of creative property.
Take a good look at the reasoning of my follower and friend. This explains everything I tried to explain in the previous posts but it seems that many still don’t understand it.
It’s not hard. It’s easy.
Here have an example:
Imagine I tell you to show me your money.
Since you’re a good guy, you show me your money because you want to share your happiness. (You are happy to have some money). But I take away the money, because you SHOWED it to me. Why? It’s not your anymore, right? I can take it. You showed it, so it’s mine.
The idea of money isn’t yours right? You didn’t create money, but you decided to make money. Also, you decided to show me that money you made (by work, got gifted etc). That money is because of that mine. It’s not yours.
Now I have money. We all know, people with money are fame. So I take money of others and become famous.
Do you see the reasoning that happened all the time? It’s absolute bullshit.
You take away other’s goods because you are pathetic. There is no good intention, if you hurt the artist with that. It’s so much worse because you disrepect this artist (clamin
I am explicitly talking about repost or other use of art/stories/whatever WITHOUT PERMISSION of the RIGHTFUL OWNER.
More stuff below.
So. I am thankful for everyone who supports me and understands me. It’s not like I am desperately trying to get attention, on contrary. I am just stating my point of view and refuse to accept the dump reasoning of some people here in tumblr.
I faced so many posts where artists suffer because of art thefts. People who repost and even SELL their art. (sometimes even stories of writers get reposts or rewritten and claimed as theirs. It’s awful).
Why would I stay quiet about this fact? People will never learn if they don’t face this. And a single person cannot do much, but if we fight together, we might change some things and make the world a better place. Little by little.
Honestly, I am amazed that my first “haters” are actually about my statement and view of Art Theft. I was positive, it would be about my personality or art: no, it’s about this hot topic that shouldn’t be even a problem.
I mean: I’ve never pointed out who exactly I was talking about, until the person srsly started a war with me. I tolerate a lot but there is a fucking line that one shouldn’t cross.
Don’t call yourself “a follower” who “loves me” but “cannot accept my opinion on art theft”. I didn’t say YOU are the thief. But if you feel like this post is directed at you, I would wonder about that if I was you.
So Mali seems aggressive and stressed. I will tell you why.
I’ve been in trouble for a while now. This considers RL. As you noticed, I’m having tons of job interviews because after studying Computer Science I found no good company to work for.
I am working part time, but this is no solution for the future. I decided that I will move back to my hometown near Hamburg. That’s why I am trying to find a good company there.
And I did. I have high hopes that the second interview will solve their decision and make them choose me.
This involves me moving and me having more work and less free time. This is not that bad, I can finally push away SOME of my sorrows and worries. Maybe I will draw even more with being less depressed and worried about life.
There are huge changes awaiting me and my future. (And I have troubles with my family too, but this is personal stuff I don’t talk about.)
Usually tumblr is my little home with my friends. I don’t see the most of my followers as strangers but friends. That’s why I want you to call me Mali. We’re on the same level, ok? I am no better than you and vice versa.
But it seems every time I leave the save ground and state my opinion people just don’t get the point or feel offended. Actually 2 came along and told me “I’m crying, I hope you’re happy!”
Sorry, but... why? Just because I tell you the truth? How old are you?
Back to the point: I’ve been stressed. My parttime job is sometimes a pain in the ass too. I want to have fun... reading negative stuff like I’ve been facing the last days were really draining my mood.
That’s why I didn’t put of the nice mask, but answered straight foward and aggressive.
Sure, I am not always in the right. But why would I hide my true thoughts about a topic like this one? Especially by the use of my own stuff.
Luckily, I am not alone with this. That’s why I want to thank all of you who understood me and know what I was trying to do, even by being “the bad” or “the jerk”.
Anon*takes everything and purrs* I tried tot ake breaks, especially with my sickness. I am finally getting better and recovering. Also... life’s not that bad at the moment. Just annoying peepz D: Aah, a blue flower
@skeletalegastertalevoidtaleThis is sympathy. You feel, what I feel. You understand it. They don’t. They are probably kids with their own issues and attention deseases meanly said. If they understood the work and the time we invest into projects like these, they wouldn’t just abuse it. This is the idea of creative property. Swapfell Dawn is my story. My interpretation of the original idea of the term “Swapfell”. Toby Fox created Undertale, but he enhanced the possibility of creating AUs. There were many people before me who did this. So I don’t get the point for this being even an argument against me?
Look at my “money” example. That’s the same reasoning.
AnonThank you for understanding. But thank you even more for stating that I am doing good things too. I wanted to find friends and motivate others. I know how hard it is to motivate yourself to draw... to keep going... not to give up.I want to show that it’s possible to reach unbelievable heights as long as you fight and don’t give up! So I’m really happy for you!
AnonThat’s life. Nothing new to be honest. Everyone loves me as long as I keep quite and do not say my opinion out loud. Once I did, I am the bad guy.You know what? I’m fine with that. I like being bad anyways.
Anon:Aw, thanks for worrying. I accept the hug this time!
@adorable-lil-shitWonderful sarcasm there. -10/10
AnonThat lady is unfortunately not the only one. I met some of these bitches (sorry) and the most are minor. What’s even worse. They shouldn’t be on my fucking blog. The thing is, these people destroy my view of others. I am so frustrated with the russian fandom, that I don’t allow anyone to do anything with my art except I know them. And even that is too much. I don’t want to see my art somewhere else. It’s mine.I took my time to read some of the comments below my images and srsly, people don’t get the point. Why? Because they don’t get answers by ME. The dudes who upload my stuff have no idea... they are just dumb farts.
@dragoonmaster1212Thank you. But I am not that well at handling things like that. I do vent and I can vent alot about it. Somehow the steam needs to get out. You see, I had a very shit time at school being the number one dude to get bullied. I know how it’s like to shut up and just take whatever bullies give you. But I learned to stand up and stand my ground. No fucking kids will tell me what to do and take away what’s mine. Even if it means acting radical and punishing all. There are no easy ways to solve a serious topic like art theft.
AnonIt’s totally fine to go on Anon. I don’t want you to get in trouble just because I am not hiding myself. Totally fine. Thank you for saying this. I truly cherish people who say they respect me.
I treat people like I want to be treated. If they hurt this rule by hurting me, I will hurt them.
That’s how I work. Involving Toby Fox is a desperate attempt and trying to make me feel bad for their mistakes. They don’t know how to argue, so they use the idea of “Toby Fox has the copyright”.Yes, but Toby Fox has not the copyright of the story and design of Swapfell Dawn. They don’t get this obviously.
@flamefiendsYeah, sounds good to me. So you will offer yourself to me?
AnonYeah, absolute kids in my view. I am positive, they are not adults. Thank you for supporting me.
AnonThanks :) I am happy that I am not only the bad guy. But I am, I guess.
@babypizzawonderlandI won’t give up. These freaks won’t bloody win over me. I won’t shut up. If it’s annoying people, feel free to leave. This topic is a serious one. I won’t back down.
@buttergriffin332Yeah, that’s life again. But I won’t surrender. Thanks for staying with me.
@aussieevyWell, I lost my patience somewhere along the way too. I think these people think I am bad because I am telling them off like their moms did?Besides, I am trying to exlain shit.... and they still don’t get it. So I think they are stupid or kids. I don’t know any other reason why they don’t get it’s bad. (Ok, there are egoistic attention whores too, but ye... still kids). Thanks for saying that thought. I appreciate that.
@al-surfaceThank you, cookie Q.Q It’s hard not to get worked up. After all they attack my as a person in the end too. It seems hard to face the truth about thievery and what they do is wrong. They don’t worry about consequences... so many great people leave because of this bullshit. I won’t do that.
AnonYeah, totally my rage inside my mind there. That’s what I was thinking when I tried to talk some sanity into them. Helpless cases. I had to block the ones I know and move on. They don’t accept the fact it’s mine: even worse! They say my comics wouldn’t be that popular without them. YEAH OF COURSE; BITCH.
AnonThanks. I am happy that I am not the only one who thinks this. Glad to have you on my side. You get the point... so it can’t be that hard to understand right?
@loutoblogYeah... *sighs* Humanity’s stupidity is endless. It seems like it’s a crime to demand fairness and respect. It’s fun. They would cry and rage even louder, if I took their personal pictures and posted them on CumWhoreDotCom.Thanks, sweetie... it’s a bit hard, but I’m a fighter.
@fairytail78foreverI think you could say it’s jealousy. I think also attention whores who are mad they don’t get any likes. So they take away other’s goods and become fame. Low. Super low. I despise people like that.
Anon“Fans”. Yeah. Sadly. I will be bad in their eyes forever. Because I “hurt” them for being rude and selfish shits. Exactly. So I won’t just allow them to see my shit like that. There will be a fucking way to punish and I will find it. Until then I will be in war with them. But okay... I think argueing with idiots is truly an endless circle.
AnonI won’t do that. They know who they are, if they ever come to read this. I am not the type to make my friends attack others. Instead, I want everyone to state their opinion so others MIGHT LEARN from it.Thank you for your kind words. I just hope this will end anytime soon, so we all can enjoy the stuff we love the most!
Respect Artists. Be fair. Don’t be a rude, selfish fuck.
@angrywolflandThanks.... that’s what I hoped for.
AnonThis is a very good example. Take your time reading it. It explains why it’s wrong too. It’s just sadly funny how stupid people are.
@emilys-fandom-trashbinThat’s what I am saying all the time. But they ignore this fact? That it’s my property? That they cannot use it? I mean, I could take their money too. It’s not their property. Money is not their idea.Thank you for the compliments and your sympathy. This helps.
@pizzataleauPlease call me Mali. I am on the same level as you. That’s a nice offer, but I think it won’t help? These two are kids probably. They use Google Translator, misunderstand things because of the language barrier and blame me for being a “mean person”. Both of them are liars and selfish fucks. I hope karma will settle this for me. Thank you very much. Especially for worrying for me >///chuchuchuuuu*
@dearestdanger I know that the most understand... they are writers and artists themselves. It’s just weird how they try to justify their actions. If I would take away their stuff, they would cry the loudest. But they also cry, because I showed them, they did something bad. Geez, it’s so annoying. Thanks for the support! I won’t give up!
@silver-is-hereOhh, sweetheart. You’re sure doing the right things in the right time Q//QThanks... my day was okay. Work’s been hard and troubling, but I survived it. I will make myself some hot chocolate, get some cookies and play some league of legends. Or I will watch a movie... mmhmmm... I haven’t watched animes in ages... D:I love you too
AnonThank you... reading an ask like this makes me feel better a lot of times. I do worry about my other fans... how they will react to my personality and stuff. But... I don’t consider art thiefs as friends? Nor do I want them to be as my followers? I don’t need them? Since they harm me and my friends?Thank you :) That’s the way it should be. It’s my right, not theirs.
Some older asks considering the russian fandom:
I will as strong as possible. I don’t give up... I enjoy being here and sharing my stories and ideas. Some fucks won’t make me stop doing that. However, I will really stop publishing stuff, if they don’t back down. Last time they understood because of a friend. I hope this won’t be in vain.
Thanks @cinnamon4wolfy. I appreciate your worry and will take a good rest later
@pandorica101Yeah. That will be probably a hard topic for a while. People forgot how to respect... how to treat each other well. It’s sad. Thanks for being with me tho... I also hope it won’t repeat so much anymore.
To the rest of the Anons. Thank you for your support and worry. I was happy you wrote me because it helped me to stay determined.
My wrath is limitless.
And Thank you.... here is my request to all russian watchers:
If you see my or other people’s art reposted, please... just please... tell them not to do that. Especially on VK. I will stop uploading Swapfell Dawn, if anybody uploads and translates it there. Please spread a good message. Please tell them to visit the original websites for the pictures.... don’t spread hate, spread love and respect.
Last AnonYeah... thanks. I think it is annoying to reblog “do not repost” thing.... or just post so much vent and negativity....
I will not stop being myself, tho.
Deal with it.

Glass House: Machine Gun Kelly featuring Naomi Wild name drops Mac, Lil Peep and Chester Bennington!
Glass House: Machine Gun Kelly featuring Naomi Wild name drops Mac, Lil Peep and Chester Bennington!
Glass House: MGK featuring Naomi Wild.
Whether you like Machine Gun Kelly or not he’s had some hit jams. Most importantly, the ones which keep the musical lives of other artists alive.
In fact, MGK just dropped a song featuring Naomi Wild.
Truthfully, her voice alone draws you into the songs. But, let’s not forget the lyrics.
Isn’t true a lot of talent use their trials and feelings to create art?
Mac Miller for example, opened up about his friends and family. The ones who knew him best were those who listened to his music.
Reddit community carries on Mac Miller’s legacy.
Unfortunately, we’ve lost a lot of artists to their trials, including Chester and Mac Miller.
Glass House lyrics
Yeah, I fuck up and lose control Burned so many bridges, got nowhere to go Bitches got these motives like Anna Nicole I’m smoking cigarettes alone until it burn a hole In my lungs, in my soul, in my denim coat Same place I’ma keep that knife if I’ma slit my throat This shit ugly, I was just with Nipsey, now he ghost They even got my homie Pete out here, like, fuck the jokes Damn All alone in the glass house (just keep it going) Lie awake ’til the sun’s out Pink sky when you come down Sometimes I wanna fuckin’ scream or run away, I don’t know
All alone in the glass house (just keep it going) Lie awake ’til the sun’s out Pink sky when you come down Sometimes I wanna fuckin’ scream or run away, I don’t know Ayy, life’s been hard since seventeen I’ve been through hell, I think I’m somewhere in-between Caught in purgatory, I could paint the scene Everything turned to a nightmare from a dream, look Wish Lil Peep and me had spoke, but I can’t get that back Just came from Pittsburgh, damn, I’ll miss my homie Mac Yeah, last time I got off the stage, I looked Chester in the face But now he gone, and ain’t no going back, uh
The best music is the kind that makes you feel and there’s no doubt “Glass House,” by MGK and the rest of the crew delivered the message.
If you haven’t heard the new song, give it a listen and let us know if you can relate.
Blessed be.
